t was long, and I've honestly never had a book I enjoyed so much take me so unimaginably long to read... But it was worth it. I honestly wonder if the book was part of a series (I haven't checked yet) as the ending seemed so open as to leave for other options later one... In truth, I am most curious as to what happened about the Temple on Naxos, Pythias, and the others' fates. I would very much like to see a continuation revolving more around that and their lives afterwards.

Contagion of the Gods eBook Scott Rhine Reviews

Fast moving, exciting story. Author is very creative. I have read all of this author's books and will continue to read any new books he writes. Characters are always interesting.
I have read and reviewed a few other books by this author. So far from all his books I have read I have absolutely loved his books and that includes this one. I can very well imagine the characters and all that is going on in this book. Very well written.

I can't wait to read more of Scott Rhines' books.

* I have received a free of this for my honest .*
Disclosure I helped edit this book.

Contagion of the Gods reads like an ancient Greek myth. Here you will find seers and oracles and the creatures of ancient legend, such as ian warriors, Silenes, satyrs and centaurs. Around them, and the more prosaic characters of Pythias and Nestor, runs a dark tale of greed, envy, and power-hungry rivals who are each desperate to possess items that will transform them into gods.

With some great action scenes, plenty of wry humour, and believable dialogue, Contagion of the Gods is a page-turning read.
I was given this book to edit and enjoyed it immensely, like I have all of Scott Rhine's books. I loved Pythias' story his painful childhood, the political corruptions and truths still present in today's society, and the manipulative way he plays both sides for the betterment of humanity. This is an entertaining tale that I highly recommend. In addition, when I first saw the cover, I was blown away. Contagion of the Gods isn't just a pretty face, but great inside and out. Pick up your copy today if you enjoy tales of Gods, fantasy, and adventure reminiscent of Homer's story of Odysseus.

Synopsis Sex, violence, and Greek gods--an epic fantasy in the vein of Gene Wolfe or Tim Powers.

If Pythias reads the future in the sun one more time, he could go blind; instead, he uses detective skills to solve the problems of Golden Age Athens. Then two charming but ruthless princes engage in a titanic battle to become the next incarnation of Dionysus. The contagion of the gods is loose again. As a member of a secret society known as the Sons of Prometheus, Pythias must find a way to stop the demigods or the nations of the Mediterranean will be drawn into war. A witch and a horse-legged Silenus guide them through the secrets behind the Greek legends in an odyssey that travels to the fabled island of the Gorgons and beyond.

My Thoughts I've always enjoyed Rhine's writing style, the sly humor he puts into it, and the research he does to make everything plausible, and after reading the early stages of this manuscript, I encouraged him to go ahead and finish it, so I've been very interested to see how it turned out.

Rhine has said this is a darker tale than his usual fare, but I found it just as entertaining and full of humor as any of his works. He puts in a lot of different legends and lore to this story, even, at one point, discussing the similarities between the Greek and Egyptian gods, which I found fascinating. I basically read the story through without stopping, and the time passed very quickly as I did. This is a must-read for those interested in mythology and Ancient Greece, as well as historical fantasy. Definitely pick this one up if this sounds like you.
A different spin on greek mythology and the gods. The tale is that of a journey and change for the lead character, a prophet of Apollo, who by the end of the book is quite a different man.
Overall an excellent read about characters I hope to visit again some day.
I purchased this book because of the well designed cover and because a lifelong love of Greek Mythology. What I found in this book was a story that was highly involved and complicated, however I must admit that it did fail at times to keep me involved in the story, making it a rather long read for me. While it did focus very specifically on the details of its ancient Greek environment (Culture, Religion, ect.) which was interesting, so much focus seemed to rob the story of some of the intensity and drive of the action. But that may have simply been something which will prove specific to me and not everyone else.

It was well written and I would recommend it to anyone.
